How a mandate comes about
So that it is clear from when we act for you, the same rule applies throughout:
- An enquiry is not yet an acceptance of the mandate. Completing a form, calling or sending an e-mail does not establish a client relationship — we first check whether we can take the matter on and whether there is a conflict of interest.
- We confirm the scope and cost of an initial consultation in advance. An initial consultation usually lasts about an hour and is charged at the agreed hourly rate; we tell you that rate when the appointment is made. Only then do you decide.
- Any further representation is agreed separately. We record the scope, approach and fee in writing in an engagement letter before we act.
- The transparency register service has its own clearly identified instruction step: the mandate comes about through the electronic confirmation of instructions in your personal area, stating the flat fee. There too, the enquiry alone does not trigger it.
- Please report running deadlines immediately. Tell us about a deadline at first contact — preferably by phone. We will then clarify without delay whether we can take it on. Do not rely on an enquiry through the form alone to preserve a deadline.
Professional secrecy (Art. 321 Swiss Criminal Code, Art. 13 Lawyers Act) applies regardless from the first contact — even if no mandate follows.
