Fees and costs
What does legal advice at steurifisch cost? We charge by time spent, tell you the hourly rate before we start, and explain openly where flat fees, the notarial tariff, legal expenses insurance or legal aid apply.
Billing by time spent
We bill legal work by time spent. The hourly rate depends on the complexity and responsibility of the mandate; we state the rate applicable to your matter in the initial consultation — in writing in the engagement letter, before any costs arise. VAT and disbursements (court fees, charges, expert opinions) are added to the fee.
Flat fees
For clearly defined matters we offer flat fees, for example a will, an advance care directive with a living will, the formation of a GmbH or AG including notarisation, or an uncontested divorce with a complete agreement. We clarify in the initial consultation whether a flat fee is possible.
Notarial fees
Public notarisations and certifications follow the fee tariff of the Canton of St. Gallen. The fee depends on the transaction and, in part, on its value. We inform you transparently about the applicable fees before notarisation.
Legal expenses insurance and legal aid
If you have legal expenses insurance, we check the cover and obtain the insurer's approval. Anyone unable to bear the costs of proceedings may be entitled to legal aid (Art. 117 ff. CPC) or court-appointed defence (Art. 132 CrimPC). We assess the requirements with you and file the application.
Invoicing and payment
We usually invoice monthly or after completing a stage, with a detailed statement of services. For larger mandates we ask for an advance on costs. Any questions about an invoice are clarified directly with you.
